Extra Music Opportunities

WIBC (Western International Band Clinic) is another incredible opportunity for musicians in the band. This festival is in SeaTac and always features really great music, often meeting some of the finest living composers for Wind Ensemble music!

NAfME (National Association for Music Education) and WMEA (Washington Music Educators Association) All-State Festival for Jazz Band this year is mid-February and is happening in Yakima, WA. Information and audition materials online.

This group performs every 3 months. They could use more trumpets, trombones, saxophones (alto, tenor, bari), piano, and electric guitar seniors & juniors who are great at jazz, improvising, and sight reading.

Students looking for ways to grow their musicianship should consider this January festival! Selections are via a nomination the Band Director submits on your behalf. Upper classmen in Wind Ensemble will get first dibs on nominations. 

NAfME and WMEA All-State Festival for High School Band this year is at the end of May and is happening in Tacoma, WA. Information and audition materials online.

EYCB provides enhanced musical experiences for advanced high school and exceptional middle school students from Sammamish, Issaquah, Snoqualmie, North Bend, Bellevue, Kirkland, Renton, Maple Valley, Redmond, and the surrounding areas. Practices are held at Pacific Cascade Middle School in Issaquah on Tuesday evenings from 7-9 pm.

NLMEA (North Lake Music Educators Association) Regional Solo & Ensemble Festival will be hosted at our very own Redmond High School again this year. Students are highly encouraged to participate as an additional way to dive deeper into individual skills or engage with others students in an ensemble.

The Centrum Jazz Camp in Port Townsend is easily one of the best experiences around, staffed by the nations' best jazz educators, and provides kids with a transformative opportunity to level up their instrumental skills, ensembleship, and improvisation. Auditions are required for this intensive camp.

BYSO is a nonprofit organization in Bellevue, Washington, established to provide a positive and stimulating musical environment for Eastside youth. Now with six large orchestras and three smaller instrumental ensembles, we have been serving students ages 6 to 21 since 1964. Rehearsals are held on Monday evenings in the Bellevue and Kirkland areas.
